Laganas is the most famous and busy resort in Zante and it’s particularly popular to youngsters as well as families. Laganas is located in the southern part of Zakynthos and its home to the largest beach on Zante, with a length of 9 km. Laganas is also known as the place where the endangered Caretta-Caretta turtles lay their eggs, and for that reason Laganas beach is a part of the National Maritime Park of Zakynthos. Laganas resort is quite developed and during the summer it’s Zakynthos hottest spot for overnight clubbing, that’s why it is not recommended to holidaymakers seeking for a relaxing holiday.
Laganas beach is a huge, sandy beach with crystal clear, warm and shallow waters. It’s the most busy and developed beach in Zante. The beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds to rent. Due to the strict measures for the protection of Loggerhead turtles, watersports are not allowed in Laganas beach. Here you can hire a boat and visit Marathonisi, an islet part of Laganas Bay, with deep turquoise waters. Another alternative is to visit Cameo, a private islet that is connected with Laganas via a wooden bridge and it offers organized beach with sunbeds and umbrellas to rent and a beach bar, so that you can enjoy a refreshing drink or snack.
